Winols 2.24 Windows 10 -

WinOLS is the industry-standard software for ECU (Engine Control Unit) tuning, mapping, and remapping. Version 2.24 is an older but still widely used release. However, because it was originally designed for Windows XP/Vista/7, running it on Windows 10 requires specific attention to compatibility, drivers, and security settings.

  1. Disable Antivirus: WinOLS interacts deeply with hardware drivers and database files. Windows Defender often flags tuning software drivers as "HackTool" or "PUP" (Potentially Unwanted Program). Temporarily disable real-time protection.
  2. Create a Restore Point: Tuning software installs kernel drivers. If something goes wrong, you want to be able to roll back.

WinOLS 2.24 is a faithful workhorse, but it has limitations. Compare it with WinOLS 3.0+ or 4.0:

Many hobbyist tuners and small shops keep a copy of 2.24 on an old Panasonic Toughbook just for bench tuning older ECUs (Bosch EDC15/16, ME7.5, etc.). It’s lightweight, fast, and doesn’t crash.

If you are using genuine EVC hardware (like the BDM100), Windows 10 may reject the unsigned drivers.

Even with perfect installation, you may encounter these specific issues:
