Unlike the Jasminum grandiflorum (Spanish jasmine) which has a soft, tea-like, indolic sweetness, the Ujire Mallige ( Jasminum auriculatum ) is . It has a "green" opening—almost spicy like clove or fresh hay—followed by a heavy, narcotic sweetness that can fill a closed room within minutes.
