Opticide-FC
is an oral pharmaceutical medication, specifically a brand of praziquantel , primarily used for the treatment of parasitic infections caused by trematodes (flukes) and cestodes (tapeworms) in both human and veterinary medicine. Therapeutic Indications
Regulatory & labeling notes
- Light biostatic control: 50 – 100 ppm
- Standard bacterial control: 150 – 300 ppm
- Biofilm removal (shock dose): 500 – 1000 ppm for 4-6 hours, followed by a maintenance dose.
- Fungicidal treatment: 300 – 500 ppm (fungi require higher concentrations than bacteria)
Immediate symptoms (0–10 sec):
Intense lacrimation, photophobia, perception of a "white flash." Symptoms (10–60 sec): Complete loss of light perception, followed by deep orbital pain (trigeminal nerve irritation). Long-term: Total, irreversible blindness. The optic nerve undergoes Wallerian degeneration by week 2. No surgical or pharmacological intervention (including enucleation and prosthetic replacement) restores function. opticide-fc
