- Plugin Compatibility: NetBeans plugins are often version-specific. A Cyberpunk theme designed for NetBeans 8.2 may not work on NetBeans 19+.
- UI Chrome Limitations: NetBeans is built on Swing. Unlike VS Code (Electron/HTML), it is difficult to make the file explorer or menu bars transparent or translucent. The theme will be flat and solid, not "glassy" or animated like a futuristic UI.
- Maintenance: Community themes are often created by individuals and abandoned. They may break after major NetBeans updates.
- Ease of use: NetBeans has a gentle learning curve, making it accessible to developers of all skill levels.
- Extensive plugin ecosystem: With a vast array of plugins available, you can easily extend NetBeans to suit your needs.
- Cross-platform compatibility: NetBeans runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, ensuring a seamless experience across different operating systems.
