Complete Review: MS-14B31 BIOS Update
- Download the
.exefile from the Lenovo support page. - Close all open applications and disable your antivirus temporarily if it blocks system-level writes.
- Run the executable as Administrator.
- Follow the on-screen wizard. The system will automatically reboot and enter a "Flashing BIOS" screen.
- DO NOT POWER OFF THE PC. This process can take 2–5 minutes. Interrupting it can "brick" the motherboard.
Step 5 – Verify & Reset Settings
- Download the latest BIOS version: Visit the MSI website, navigate to the support section, and search for your motherboard model. Download the latest BIOS version (MS14B31) and save it to a USB drive or CD/DVD.
- Create a bootable USB drive: If you're using a USB drive, create a bootable drive using a tool like Rufus (for Windows) or Etcher (for Windows, macOS, or Linux).
- Enter the BIOS setup: Restart your system, and press the key to enter the BIOS setup (usually F2, F12, or Del). Save the current BIOS settings and exit the setup.
- Boot from the update media: Insert the USB drive or CD/DVD containing the BIOS update, and restart your system. Set the system to boot from the update media (usually by pressing F12 or changing the boot order in the BIOS settings).
- Update the BIOS: Follow the on-screen instructions to update the BIOS. The update process may take a few minutes, and your system may restart several times.
- Verify the update: After the update is complete, enter the BIOS setup and verify that the new version (MS14B31) is displayed.
