The movie takes place in a future where a team of scientists, led by Dr. John Mitchell (Gerard Butler), have developed a network of satellites called the "Dome" that can control the global climate. However, when the system starts to malfunction, a catastrophic storm called a "geostorm" threatens to destroy the Earth. The team must work together to prevent the disaster and save humanity.
The story follows Jake Lawson (Gerard Butler), a satellite designer, and his brother Max (Jim Sturgess), a diplomat, as they race against time to fix the system before a massive geostorm wipes out the planet.
Chief architect Jake Lawson (Gerard Butler) is sent back into space to fix the system, while his brother Max (Jim Sturgess) uncovers a political conspiracy on Earth.
However, when the system malfunctions and begins creating devastating "geostorms" instead of preventing them, it becomes clear that someone is sabotaging it from within.
