DOOM (2016) Switch NSP UPDATE
The update reduced the bitrate of background music and ambient sounds slightly to free up RAM for gameplay. While audiophiles noticed a tiny compression artifact, the trade-off was zero audio lag during Glory Kills.
- Visual downgrades compared to other platforms
- Limited graphics options
- Dynamic resolution: Ranging from 720p (docked) down to as low as 360p (handheld) during intense combat.
- 30 FPS target with frequent dips into the low 20s, especially in later levels (e.g., Argent Facility).
- Texture filtering: Trilinear only; anisotropic filtering disabled.
- Audio compression: Heavily reduced sample rate (32 kHz vs. 48 kHz on other platforms) to fit on 8 GB cartridge.
Warning:
Do not confuse this with the DOOM Slayers Collection (which includes the update pre-packaged) or DOOM Eternal . This update is strictly for the 2016 reboot.
6. Security & DRM Considerations for NSP Updates
