Method 2: Tool Palettes (The Premium Way)

  1. In the host file, type INSERT.
  2. Click Browse and select your external .dwg file.
  3. Check "Explode" – wait! Do not explode. Instead, uncheck "Specify on-screen" and set scale to 1.
  4. Insert it. It will appear as a block reference. Because it is now in the drawing, its definition is stored in the host file.
  5. Delete the inserted reference. The block definition remains in the host file (Type BEDIT to see it).
